The Reading Habits Tag ๐Ÿ“–

Do you have a certain place at home for reading?

~Yes. I would confidently say that the majority of my reading at home is done at my desk. However, I also read in bed every night for at least an hour ;)

⁕ Bookmark or random piece of paper?

~I use bookmarks typically but if there’s none around, I will just stick a random thing, sometimes a piece of paper, where I left off for the moment until I find a real bookmark.

⁕ Can you just stop reading or do you have to stop after a chapter/a certain amount of pages?

~I always try to read at least 50 pages at a time, so I can stop at an even amount of pages (50, 150, etc.). So yes, unless for some reason I have to suddenly put down my book, I would say that I usually have to stop after a certain amount of pages.

Do you eat or drink while reading?

~Sometimes…if I have something to eat or drink and don’t want to put the book down :)

⁕ Multitasking: Music or TV while reading?

~I occasionally will listen to music while reading, but never TV. I read best with no sound at all.

⁕ One book at a time or several at once?

~I definitely prefer to read only 1 fiction book at a time and mostly do, but sometimes I’ll read a fiction book and a nonfiction book at the same time.

⁕ Reading at home or everywhere?

~I like reading at home, but I definitely never leave the house without a book! I would estimate that a good 40-50% of my overall reading time is done in the car on the way somewhere, and I have also been known to read at birthday parties, family gatherings…and even at a movie theatre (I kid you not).

⁕ Reading out loud or silently?

~Silently- it’s way faster!

⁕ Do you read ahead or even skip pages?

~I always try to not read ahead or skip pages, but sometimes I kind of have. For example, if I’m reading a missionary biography and the author is describing something really stomach-turning, I might skim those paragraphs, but in fiction I rarely read ahead and will only skip pages under certain circumstances.

⁕ Breaking the spine or keeping it like new?

~Uh…I certainly don’t try to break the spine!

⁕ Do you write in your books?

~I do, particularly in nonfiction, where I’ll highlight, underline, and occasionally write little notes in the margins. I don’t think I’ve ever actually written in a fiction book though, just underlined.
