About

Hey friends, my name is Lottie, and I run The Boundless Bookshelf. Welcome to your cozy corner for all things bookish.

I launched this blog in spring 2025 because 1) I love reading, 2) I love writing, and 3) I love writing about reading. So obviously I had to start a book blog. 😉

My primary goal for this blog is to provide honest, in-depth book reviews across a wide range of genres, sharing my thoughts and listing any questionable content and potential trigger warnings. In addition, I occasionally will feature other book-related posts, such as fun tags, tailored book recommendation lists, reading challenges, literary discussions, yearly reading wrap-ups, my own writing updates and more!

As of May 2025, I aim to post twice a week, typically on Mondays and Thursdays. Both of those weekly posts could be book reviews, or both of them could be other bookish things, or one of each. It simply depends on my schedule and how many books I've read that week. I also have a monthly (roughly) newsletter that will deliver all the things I've posted in the past month or so as well as any updates, news, or announcements right to your inbox.

What Kind of Books I Review

I read a range of genres, so you’ll find Christian nonfiction, Christian fiction, clean fiction, historical, romance, mystery, classics, as well as the occasional fantasy or science fiction. On the other hand, the genres I don't read include thriller, horror, and any book that is likely to have explicit or graphic content. It should also be noted that lots of the books I read are quite old :) As of right now, I plan to feature one nonfiction book a month, but the format will differ slightly from fiction reviews.

My Rating System

⭐ 1 Star - Not for Me

Didn't connect with the book. It wasn’t my thing, or there was content I wasn’t a fan of, or both.

⭐⭐ 2 Stars - It Had Potential (Kind of)

Had some interesting moments, but didn’t fully work for me.

⭐⭐⭐ 3 Stars - Enjoyable

A pretty solid, enjoyable read, but it had some bumps along the way.

⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4 Stars - Great Read

Engaging and fun, with only a few small flaws.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5 Stars - Absolutely Loved It

Fantastic from start to finish. Highly recommend!

My Standard

I am a Christian- a follower of Christ with the Bible as my ultimate authority- and therefore, all the books I read will be viewed through that lens. I do not (and never will) read books that I know to have ungodly content. I prefer my books to be squeaky clean, and if a book I read does not meet my biblical standards, I will drop the rating. (Psalm 101:3, Philippians 4:8, 1 Thessalonians 5:21–22, Romans 12:2, Proverbs 4:23).

The Greatest Book

The Bible is the single greatest and most precious Book in the world. it is God’s Word to us, and holds all the treasures of wisdom, knowledge, and salvation. It is completely inerrant and infallible and must be our ultimate standard for everything. Nothing compares to it, nor even comes close. While reading (and writing!) fiction is a joy and has much value, we ought to always remember that what we need to be reading and revering more than anything else are the words of our Heavenly Father.

In everything, I hope to deliver engaging content that enhances your reading experience and expands your literary horizons- all from a biblical perspective. Thank you for visiting—let's dive into the beautiful world of books together!

“I declare after all there is no enjoyment like reading! How much sooner one tires of any thing than of a book! - When I have a house of my own, I shall be miserable if I have not an excellent library.”

-Elizabeth Bennet, Pride and Prejudice
