💭 My thoughts
I really enjoyed The Women of Wynton's by this author, so I've been excited to read this sequel for a while now. And it was really good! It was somewhat similar to the first book, but as with that one, I loved the historical setting and the interesting details about running the department store. It was a little sad sometimes due to the subject matter, but it also highlighted friendship, encouragement, and teamwork.
The ending didn't shock me, but that's pretty typical. I read this book over a couple of cold, snowy evenings, and that was thoroughly enjoyable! Overall, I liked this one a lot and would definitely read another book in this series.
⚠️ Broad content notes
Murder (up to semi-descriptive), grief, period-typical discrimination/incivility towards African American people (portrayed negatively).
Bookishly yours,
